The right candidate needs to demonstrate very strong proactive leadership and specific expertise in not just accounting functions, but also supporting the goals of the company and their Lean-manufacturing environment.
Activities will include but are not limited to:
- Administrate overall accounting functions insuring timely and accurate reporting
- Daily communication and training in development of overall knowledge of accounting understanding by managers and department heads
- Work collaboratively to make sure the accounting systems are driving appropriate behaviors
- Ensure the accounting measures and cost accounting functions are in alignment with and supporting the Lean initiatives
- Responsible for data entry, report preparation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and related tasks
- Payroll tasks including preparation, posting, problem solving, and 401k processing
- Process all federal, state and local tax payments and returns
- Oversee accounts payable and review for consistency and timeliness
- Prepare reports for Management, Sales and Marketing Teams
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting, including a track record of progressive growth in accounting roles and responsibilities
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Expertise in financial statement reporting, and payroll tax preparation
- Strong General Ledger and Accounting background
- Strong technical skills, able to pick up quickly on the company's unique systems and processes
- Experience working, and ability to work, with the technical team – in true partnership - for data migrations, customizations and enhancements
- Superior analytical skills combined with a natural talent for written and verbal communication
- Exposure to or familiarity with Lean Accounting, including Value Stream Mapping is an advantage
- Experience in the nuances of Cost Accounting
- QuickBooks expertise is preferred, eventually, the Company will move away from QuickBooks due to the size of the operation
- Excel mastery and a strong command of Word and other MS Office applications
- Command of accounting software
- Experience with ABW, MAS90 (Sage 100 ERP), or other Accounting software is an advantage
- Other ERP experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting or related field or equivalent education and experience
