ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Write production checklists and diagnostic protocols for new or existing products for review and authorization by designers.
- Check out existing documents requiring updates, make required revisions, obtain approvals and check documents into control system.
- Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters. Act as technical resource and first responder to help solve problems.
- Study specifications and confer with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing, and Service personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs of tools.
- Recommend the design of tools and processes for Manufacturing, Service, and Quality, including jigs and fixtures. Input to Engineering on the development of preliminary sketches in order to develop tool configuration. Recommend standard items for incorporation into tool design. Ensure modification of tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance.
- Review PCL and Diagnostic protocol changes made by Manufacturing, Service, and Quality and recommend for approval.
- Automate assembly and calibration processes using NI Labview, Solidworks, and Wolfram Mathematica design software.
- Design new manufacturing fixturing using Solidworks CAD design software
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in mechanical engineering plus 3 years hands-on mechanical engineering, design and analysis experience in a fast paced industrial product development environment.
- Experience with precision motion control systems.
- Experience with 3-D modeling and parametric design. Knowledge of Solidworks preferred.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis programs.
- Experience with NI Labview software
- Experience with Wolfram Mathematica or similar engineering calculation software
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and optical systems and equipment
