Director of Business Development

This individual must have demonstrated business development experience with NIH, FDA, VA and/or CMS and will take the lead role in developing and maintaining business aligned with their core capabilities within the public health domain. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior management and business areas to provide strategic direction and leadership
  • Develop comprehensive marketing and federal health agency account plans and innovative capture strategies
  • Identify top contract opportunities, determine key players and gather intelligence on specific government units to target including NIH, FDA, VA and CMS
  • Develop, cultivate and manage customer relationships in pursuit of new business opportunities
  • Establish link between the customer’s business strategy and client’s capabilities leveraging opportunities for innovation
  • Identify, qualify, lead, and close new business opportunities to achieve company growth and revenue targets
  • Lead capture efforts, dissect RFPs, perform gap analysis in order to prepare winning proposals
  • Develop and maintain pipeline of opportunities aligned with their vision, mission and business model/strategic plan
  • Conduct competitive analysis to better understand issues and threats

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of business development and capture management experience within the federal public health services environment
  • Proven track record of generating and qualifying new sales leads, closing new business opportunities and exceeding sales quotas
  • Demonstrated experience in leading an organization in capturing, bidding and winning work with NIH, FDA, VA and/or CMS
  • Strong contacts within the public health community to facilitate the development of strategic teaming relationships
  • Strong understanding of the federal government procurement processes and practices
  • Sound business judgment and innovation in approaching business challenges
