Responsibilities Include:
- Under the direction of a partner, will provide service to a set of clients and execute assigned tasks for clients in accord with client engagement agreement.
- Track work flow through computerized work flow management system including detailed time reports completed throughout the day.
- Prepare a draft of corporate tax returns including S Corporation, Partnership, C Corporation and tax returns.
- Prepare a draft copy of individual income tax returns.
- Complete bookkeeping, sales tax, and payroll tax returns. Complete monthly bank reconciliations for clients both in house and in the field.
- Accounting work will include quarterly and year-end analysis of books of record, transactions, adjusting entries and deprecation tables in preparation of completing the tax returns.
- Under guidance of partner will participate in the preparation of year-end financial statement closings, attestation reports.
- Maintain policies and procedures standards set by the firm.
Essential Qualifications:
- Entry level position with 1-3 years of public accounting experience
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Must receive Enrolled Agent Status within two years of employment.
- Must receive CPA certification within three years of employment
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of other statutory accounting principles. ie; GAAS, Tax Basis or Regulatory.
- Strong analytical and accounting skills.
- Detailed oriented individual.
- Interest in learning the accounting and tax trade and being a part of the tax team for a growing public accounting firm
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to directly communicate with clients and other staff,
- Experience with a variety of tax preparation and accounting software preferred items include Pro Series, ATX, CFS and Quick Books. Also need to have experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and similar programs.
- Willingness and ability to learn new software and integrate into work environment.
- Ability to offer suggestions for efficiency and ease of work.
- The individual will be expected to complete work as assigned and report back to the completion of those tasks to a Senior Accountant or Partner.
- Junior Accountant work will under review for the job period as new skills are acquired.
