Responsibilities:
- Technical leader in the design and development of electronics for new company laser tracker products
- Participate in cross functional new product development teams as an electronics design resource and architect.
- Design electronics for data acquisition, motor control, imaging, multi-processor communication, PC interface, and real time computation and control.
- Document all design activities (generates design specifications, theory of operations, circuit design files, schematics, PCB layouts, test specifications, test reports, etc.)
- Direct and coordinate the layout and fabrication of new circuit board designs.
- Plan, conduct, and report on the performance testing for new electronics designs.
- Conduct troubleshooting and determine root cause for circuit design, board design, or fabrication failures.
- Coordinate the release of new electronic designs with manufacturing.
- Other electronics design activities may be added in the future as business conditions evolve.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant electronics design experience
Technical Skills:
- High speed digital design
- Embedded Microcontroller/Microprocessor design (ARM, Freescale, etc.)
- High-speed memory interface (DDR, RDRAM, etc.) design
- Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog converters (board level)
- Board Level Peripheral Communications (I2C, SPI)
- Hardware design of Ethernet, 802.11x Wireless, Bluetooth, PCIe, and USB interfaces
- Hardware design experience with FPGAs (Xilinx, Altera, or Lattice)
- Proficient with one or more schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Cadence preferred)
- Spice circuit simulation
- Signal integrity simulation
- Multi-processor communication and networking
- Use of electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzer, etc.)
- Knowledge of PCB layout criteria for high speed interfaces and power regulation
- Familiar with calculating tolerance stack ups and design margins
- Design for CE certification, EMI and Environmental performance
Bonus Skills:
- RF and Analog Design
- FPGA Programming: Verilog or VHDL
- Power analysis tools
