SCOPE

Perform functions to develop, model, design, assemble, test, document, and support 3D laser scanning measurement systems and products, working with complex factors not easily evaluated and making decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Design and assist with design of 3D laser scanning metrology systems.
  2. Research vendors, technology, and competitive products in support of design projects involving 3D imaging systems.
  3. Design and/or select lasers, laser diodes, laser optics, filters, attenuators, laser controls, cameras, lens and related technology in support of 3D – laser scanning  and measurement products.
  4. Design, develop and verify fixtures and processes for assembly, alignment, focus, measurement, and calibration of laser scanning and similar non-contact measurement systems.
  5. Develop and implement techniques, algorithms, and approaches for high accuracy calibration of 3D imaging systems.
  6. Define artifacts and calibration standards for production and end user calibration of 3D laser scanning systems.
  7. Assist in the definition, specification, implementation and test of firmware, software and control electronics for processing 3D measurement data.
  8. Provide system design input for development of image sensor, laser control, and laser/image temperature stabilization.
  9. Generate drawings, specification, schematics, flow charts, bills of material, test procedures, assembly instructions, and other documentation necessary to specify product configuration to manufacturing, purchasing, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  10. Provide expert technical guidance in the use and optimization of imaging technology for 3D metrology.
  11. Assist and support manufacturing, customer service, and customers with the use of product and fixtures as required.
